Antiques This is run as a house group and we will be dating and looking at furniture, china and other objects of interest. As a group we enjoy shared learning, fellowship and friendship within the craft group that sums up the best of what the U3A movement is all about. The group (around 12) has built on that achievement and has gone on to utilise and enhance the skills and knowledge they have gained both as individuals and as a group. In the coming year the group hope to continue to explore the “Art of Crafts”. The film club meet once a month in a member’s house in Scone. The group leaders selects a film to be viewed from comedy, classic, thriller, musical genre. The group size is limited to 12 members due to the limitations of the venue. We want to show a wide range of films so that hopefully there will be something to suit everyone. Members choose each week by popular vote what they would like to look at. We will be viewing in two rooms giving a wider choice of viewing and hope to discuss the merits of the film afterwards, we will also supply some refreshments. This past year the group has listened to quite an eclectic selection of music from the plainchant of Hildegard von Bingen in the Middle Ages to the contemporary Paul Mounsey’s “Dunfermline”. Our discussion topics have ranged from the Ages of Music, through Keyboard Instruments and Musicals to Anniversaries - the last being inspired by the 50th anniversary of the death of Vaughan Williams. Members of the group occasionally bring along pieces to play to the rest of us. Music Makers is a women's choir which meets to practice part singing. We look forward to developing the sound and repertoire now that we have ideal rehearsal space. Over the winter we entertain various church and support groups which meet in the afternoons As a house group we will be learning to use pastels and graphite to produce various styles of drawings. Come along and experience the beauty of watercolour on white paper. Meet other interested people and share with them the pleasure of creating something which will give you so much delight and satisfaction. |
